My dad picked me up today. He has a barbecue tomorrow he wants me to go to, so I’m going.
On the way to Kento’s we got dinner. My dad wanted to eat in Corvallis, so we did. He also wanted steak, so we searched….. And couldn’t find a steak house. What we DID find was a place with a sign advertising prime rib… YUM!
No one told us it was a fancy restaurant…. Oops. We were a little underdressed, I suppose… But there was another group that was also underdressed for the place, so I felt better.
The prime rib was delicious! But before that…. I dared to do it. I ate…. ESCARGOT!
And it was good. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed snails. I had three of them. And they reminded me of clams. :p Fancy clams… In garlic butter.

I don’t even remember when I posted last time…. Oops. Life has been to wild and crazy and internet has been too dial-up.
Let’s start with the latest and move back. This weekend…. Guess what?
START!
My OSU registration! Day one was dull…. Having been in the university system for a while a lot of it was review….. And I was put in a unique small group. At one point we were told we were in it because we were all 17. Me: “Uhh….. Not quite.” I guess we were all there because we were under 18. I guess we were exempt from some survey because they didn’t want to bother getting parental consent.
Day two was better. A rush, but better. We were there at 8:00 sharp to get my student ID… Best the lines because I had a loop hole known as “I’m a summer student.” While the others had to do this check list (which technically I should have done too) I got my summer ID……
After that it was straight to UHDS (University Housing and Dining Services) for an 8:30 appointment. Apparently I didn’t get my housing assignment because they wanted to meet with us in person. OK by me… Got that done, got my housing assignment! Finely, as I hoped.
Then it was straight to Nash for the fish & wildlife group advising. Did that, got registered, then other random stuff needed to be done.
Stopped by Dixon to make sure there was no legal issues with me using the climbing center (NONE! YES!
). Then to the bookstore to check on what textbooks I’ll need, and so my mom could buy publisher. Then to the EOP office to find out about that…. Had to re-submit the application, and now that’s good to go. THen to the library to find out about posibly getting a job (told to submit a resumé online). Finally to the administrative building to ask the SOAR office if there’ll be any problem with me going on a FOOTSTEPS trip (they didn’t know), to financial aid to drop off a letter about dropping dual enrollment and working out summer financial aid, and the to admissions to drop off another letter about dropping dual enrolment. THEN we went home…. With a detour to Noah’s Bagels for lunch.
Let’s see…. A couple weeks ago, July 1, to be exact, was an exciting day…. They interviewed for the library director position. In the afternoon, they offered the job to my mom. She, of course, accepted.
We also went to the mall and ordered a bed for me. It has since been picked up and assembled by us. I also got an OSU Championship shirt!
July 4 was also good….. Festives in Creswell! We were in the big parade….. Number 50, about in the middle. It was lots of fun! Ret was in and was AMAZINGLY well behaved. He was a great Hank the cowdog!
That’s probably about a summary of the latest stuff. In between has been whirlwinds of insanity. Such is the life of my family.
